Technology > Lx5 Technology Platform

Overview

Lumisys has built the technology platform for the future and is calling it the Lx5. This 3rd generation technology has been battled tested by the best building automation companies in the world and is   ready for your most demanding integrated lighting projects.

It's Built for Integration

The Lx5 was designed for building automation system companies. The Lx5 was built, from the ground up, strictly for integration ensuring peace of mind for even the most demanding integration projects from Fortune 500 headquarters, universities campuses and stadiums to retail applications. We aren't just marketers hawking technology. The Lx5 is used by premier building automation system companies on projects around the globe, everyday.

It's Powerful

The Lx5 is built with two processing cores. This represents a significant advantage over other platforms used by our competitors. These processors work together to efficiently handle protocol and communications with increased speed, network responsiveness and plenty of room for future growth.

It's Flexible

The Lx5 is built to handle mission-critical information. By employing the BACnet®, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) recognized ANSI/ASHRAE standard data communication protocol for building automation, you're assured of maximum controls company compatibility. There is no other building protocol with this level of endorsement or breadth of global industry adoption, interoperability or support.

It's Multilingual

The Lx5 is multi-protocol native with the flip of a switch. The Lx5 ships capable of supporting four native protocols and has the memory and computing capacity for many more. These protocols options are manually selectable with the flip of a switch.

It's Practical

The Lx5 features native Digi-Touch® subnet technology, which improves the functionality of Lumisys products by providing the capability of networking and powering digital switches and occupancy sensor input modules over a single, daisy chained, twisted-pair of wires. This saves significant installation costs as home run wiring for integrated switching and occupancy sensing is eliminated.

It's Upgradable

The Lx5's Input/Output and protocol system memory resides in flash RAM, so it is simple to upgrade in the field with a Lumisys Panel Programmer Kit (LPPK). LPPK "flashes" the Lx5 with new code. This is a distinct advantage to the approach of most of our competitors who lack simple field code upgradablility.

It's Backwards Compatible

The Lx5 is backwards compatible with all Lumisys, Triatek Lighting and Qwik-Kit products and offers building owners, facility managers and BAS partners many distinct advantages. The Lx5 technology platform can be leveraged to retrofit any Lumisys product manufactured in the last two decades and is a testament of our ongoing commitment to customer support.

It's Easy to Address

The Lx5 is manually addressable through the use of selection switches. Unless you're using our competitors' technology, the days of awkward software based addressing of integrated panels is a thing of the past.

It's Evolving

The Lx5 isn't static; it's always evolving based on our partner's feedback and BACnet standards. When you purchase a Lumisys product with Lx5 technology, you become a valued partner in its future development.

It's Perspective Shifting

The Lx5 sets a new standard for lighting technology integration, backed by an engineering team that is redefining the landscape of fully integrated building controls technology. The end result - you spend less time frustrated with technology that wasn't built for integration from day one and more time doing what you do best: integration.
